Bluebell Cottage is in Nidderdale, close to the Yorkshire Dales and the spa town of Harrogate. It's a wonderful area for walking for people of all abilities and energy. We have some stunning walks straight from the door. Breath the wonderful fresh Yorkshire air and feel invigorated!
THE YORKSHIRE DALES NATIONAL PARK
The Yorkshire Dales are only a short drive away - picturesque villages, breath-taking limestone scenery - gorges, coves and pavements - rugged hills with stunning summit views, including the Three Peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. Great for mountain biking and horse riding too. The enchanting ruins of Bolton Abbey are close by together with wonderful walks on the Bolton Abbey Estate along and around the River Wharf. The scenery is breathtaking and just waiting to be explored.
Nearby Pateley Bridge is the hub of a proud dales farming community; with fierce competition between the two local butchers, supported by an excellent baker, fruit and vegetable shops, delicatessen, wine, cigar shop and a couple of general grocers, you’ll find everything you need just a couple of miles away.
The city of Leeds is the nearest big city and is home to the big name designer shops ranging from Harvey Nichols to Vivienne Westwood. Harewood House and grounds are also worth a visit.

Nearby Ripon is well worth a visit for its magnificent cathedral and 'garden' racecourse which has held events for over 300 years. Close to Ripon is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Park. Newby Hall and Gardens in Ripon was the setting for Jane Austen's Mansfield Park and is a superb day out for all the family.
York is famous for its quaint cobbled streets known as the 'Shambles' as well many other attractions including York Minster, the Jorvik Viking Centre, the Yorkshire Museum and the National Railway Museum. Award winning York Racecourse holds events throughout the year.

HARROGATE & KNARESBOROUGH
A trip to this corner of Yorkshire would not be complete without a day out in Harrogate. This elegant Victorian Spa town is bursting at the seams with antique shops, cafes, independent boutiques and restaurants. The RHS Gardens at Harlow Carr are a must too see.
Knaresborough is also close by with its historic castle ruins, Mother Shipton’s Cave and lovely riverside walks.
